AHS Model Senate
Project Overview
For this project my class recreated the process of getting a Bill passed in the US Senate. We first started out by learning about the Congress as a whole. After gathering all of our necessary information, we were given assigned roles as senates (and some additional roles). I was Republican Lisa Murkowski from Alaska for this project. Each senator had to co-author a bill either for Climate Change or the Fiscal Cliff (Debt Ceiling) depending on which committee you were in. Then, one Bill was chosen for each committee, these were the bills that we would then go through the model senate with in hopes of passing them both. During the exhibition, I worked with my fellow republicans, and the occasional democrat, to figure out the details in the Climate Change bill (I was on the EPW committee) so that it was not as liberal and hopefully not too conservative. We then passed it out of our committee onto the senate floor where it was to be voted on by the whole senate. Sadly, the bill was not able to pass from the senate floor. However, the Fiscal Cliff Bill was able to pass off the senate floor and was signed by the "President,"
