The Big-Little Bi-lingual Project
How I Felt Before...
So this is the first journal I am writing before our first field trip. I’m kinda nervous simply because I don’t know what to expect and I don’t like going into new environments without knowing anything. So, my little is in kindergarten right now, I don’t know how strong her English or her Spanish is but I want to help her in any way that I can. I honestly don’t know how much Spanish I will be using but I think that this will help me because it will help me grasp the idea that they should be able to grasp what I am saying even if I don’t say it quite right.
How Can I Use Spanish to Connect with the Community...
Since there are many Spanish Speaking people within our town, learning and speaking Spanish gives me a better way to connect to them.
How Will Taking Risks with Language Make Me a Better Speaker?
I can't be afraid to takes risks because I might make a mistake. Learning is all about making mistakes and learning from those mistakes. So, when I make mistakes in Spanish I can learn from those mistakes to be a bettter speaker.
How Can I Support My Little?
I can support my little by being there for her. Just by being there I was able to help her feel more confident. On the first day that we went there my little was very shy. But, by the last time I was there she wasn't as shy, she was runnong around with her friends, coming up to me to tell me about a dream she had that night, etc.
How Can My Little Support Me?
I don't know how my little can support me, seeing as we were only there for a total of four times we didn't have a good chance to bond. My little also preferred to talk in English, so she was unable to support me in my Spanish learning.
How I Feel Now...
I was really excited to go and do this exhibition because it gave me a chance to connect with other people, and help out, while having fun.
