Philosophy Statement
Life is like a road. There are multiple routes to get to the same place. People try and tell you where to be and when you need be there. There are rough patches and smooth patches, there are twists and turns that you don’t always expect. You can take the easy road, the one that is paved and everyone chooses, or you can forge your own road.
I will choose the path I want to take, no one will take control of my life and tell me what to do with my life and when to do it. I will follow the path of least resistance until it starts going somewhere I do not wish to go, then I will get off the main road and take my own road to my final destination even though may be harder, it will be more rewarding in the end. There will be others than are taking the same road as I, some will be people that I get along with and others will get on my nerves. Yet, not all of them will stay with me, I may keep in contact with some and not others.
There are good moments and bad moments in life just like there are ups and downs in life. There are people who will just stop and turn back, try their best to avoid the ups and downs. I know that it’s impossible to avoid them, I continue on trying to make the best of the situation.
There is one thing to remember about roads and life: There is no turning back, no way to instantly go back and fix things. Sure, you can turn around and change course but it’s not the same as going the other way in the first place. There is no way to go back in time and make things right in the first place. All you can do is accept the past and move on. No matter what, if you try hard enough you will make it to your destination, whether it is being happy, living a meaningful life, and/or being successful.

Art Piece
For my art piece, I decided to create an interactive art piece so that my audience would be able to connect to my philosophy statement better. I decided that they would build their own road to happiness. I had each person create their own road that had both a start and a finish but they were able to use how ever many pieces they chose to. I also had the pieces color coded, the blue pieces were the good things that happened in their road to happiness, the orange pieces were the bad things that happened in your life, and the white pieces are your every day life. After the people built their roads to happiness, I then told them what actually happened on the way their.
